About Creations-N-Color

Judy Wagner a long time resident of College Station, a teacher of mathematics at Blinn College in Bryan, Texas, is an artist who has worked in both oils and watercolors. She primarily works now in only watercolors. She began painting when she was 8 years old and has been doing so for over 60 years. She has studied from many well-known Texas artists. Judy has won many awards for her paintings at a variety of art shows throughout Texas.

Judy taught art classes in an art shop for many years and has given many painting workshops. Currently she is not teaching art because of her workload at Blinn College. Judy believes that most people can learn to paint and has offered classes in design, color usage and techniques to portray realistic paintings. She likes for her students to become aware of God's creations around them.

Judy has been active in the art world in the past. She has served as an art judge for a number of juried art shows in Texas. Judy designed a label for Messina Hof Wine, which is a well-known Texas winery. The label can be seen in a book on Texas Wines. The painting is on display in the gallery at Messina Hof Winery in Bryan, Texas.

Judy has several prints, which can be purchased from her as well as original paintings. She sells from her home and on e-bay. Her paintings are brilliant in color and display enthusiasm in a realistic and unique way.

Judy specializes in both floral and landscape paintings. Because Judy began painting in oils she has developed her own method for painting in watercolor. For most landscapes she uses she uses wet in wet watercolor for the background which gives the feeling of softness with distant objects. Wet and Wet watercolor used the white of the paper to create highlights. She used opaque watercolor to paint animals, birds, trees, rocks and other foreground items which gives her paintings a 3 dimensional effect. Opaque watercolor is more like painting in oil because highlights are painted in rather than using the white of the paper to create them. As a result, Items if the foreground "stand out" which gives her artwork a realistic character which is difficult to achieve using only wet and wet watercolor.

Judy will do her best to create a piece of artwork that captures the essence of the subject. She uses her own unique method to create realism with color and design. Judy has done many commissions of buildings, barns, and landscapes for her customers, but each one is distinctly different from the original subject. She loves to paint flowers because flowers make happy paintings. She loves bright colors and floral design is always fun. You can never be sad when painting flowers. Often she will set up a vase of flowers to use as subject study for a painting, but the painting it's self is always delightfully more whimsical, carefree and imaginative than the live floral arrangement.
